2 December
We went shopping in Penge in south-east London. The Merry Pengemas dinosaurs are definitely very good friends with the Victorian concrete dinosaur models in Crystal Palace just up the road.
We just loved this penguin ski slope in the curtain shop, or should we say ....
... penge-guins!
3 December
I don't think this is Santa at all!
8 December
Winter weather has now arrived in earnest. Early morning duties for someone, to see to five frozen birdbaths. Me and Brown Teddy could hear the steel spade whacking the ice to break it, but we did not get out of bed just yet!
Woody high up in the tree is watching and waiting for his breakfast pellets.
Underneath the frost, still some fuchsia flowers surviving, quite a strange sight.
11 December
Here we go, first snow, just after the lights went up.
12 December
Dawn, it looks almost warm with the early sunrays.
Half the pond in the park was frozen.
Spot Snowy the pigeon! This goose was walking over the large grassy area, wondering where the green went.
15 December
A whole flock of starlings having icy baths, those that finished flew off and others came down, and some sparrows took the opportunity as well.
18 December
We swept away a rectangle when the snow started as a feeding space, but the snow is fading away now. When the sparrows sit in the yellow bush, you can see odd leafy tips quivering as they move around deciding whether to come down.
24 December
Our favourite card so far, a lovely barn owl in a snowy landscape, one to keep.
This fibre optic tree is quite old and the white fibres are yellowing, so we used all white lights and new pink tinsel to make it brighter again. I love these frozen droplet decorations but after all the snow they remind me of the freezing fingers and toes we had.
Just checking on all the various hiding places for the cakes and Christmas goodies. The raisin pot has gone down during the frosty weather!
25 December
Robin sang very loudly for Christmas morning - his usual ownership song up in the hawthorn tree.
Woody knows where breakfast is - dry pellets - which means a very big drink afterwards.
We used to make our own mince pies but now we have these with the snowflake pattern on top. We will save some Christmas pudding for New Year's Day.
The crackers are very beautiful this year, and reasonable jokes as well!
Here is Windsor Castle a week or two ago when we still had some snow around. We just love King Charles, we never miss the Royal Christmas Message.
I will spend ages reading the new Rupert Annual, and these headphones are just what was needed as well.
29 December
This mosaic artwork is at the entrance to Hither Green Station. Everywhere you look there is another little creature.
The railway land alongside the track is being converted to nature reserve - it will soon match the mosaic.
On the exit passage ceiling under the station is a marker for the Meridian Line.
31 December
The geese in the park are getting little piles of seed from a kind visitor.
One of my favourite parts of the park.
I could spend hours looking at the mosses, they are like a map of a forest with green mounds and flat areas.
