1 June
Here is the Platinum Jubilee emblem bedding in the park at Dartford.
3 June
A very big noisy flock of young starlings has arrived, and they all come down for a bath in shifts. It is amusing to watch but they leave the water very dirty.
4 June
We saw more Jubilee celebrations in the shopping centre.
This Union Jack cake display is gradually disappearing!
On the big screen we watched the Queen and family, as they watched the flypast over Buckingham Palace.
7 June
Today we are in Beckenham Place Park. Here we had our snack. This pigeon was quite bold, with interesting crumbs falling straight down, just waiting to be claimed!
This is a wild rose next to the little lake is the one that is used as the rootstock of garden roses. Brown Teddy and I like a path that winds about, so you have to go down and see what's round the corner.
I really like mossy logs, they are a miniature world like a tiny forest.
9 June
We went to the English Garden in Brockwell Park, another favourite.
The plants are all mixed together, so there is colour everywhere.
The pond in the middle really needs this fountain to be going!
The grasses were waving like a sea.
Tangled wisteria and pigeons having a peck around in a private corner.
The frog trail seemed to lead to this frog seat, although we did not see any of the live frogs, they will all be in the undergrowth.
I like to see the tree stumps carved into interesting things, this is a conker inside its case.
People tracks and miniature train tracks. The little railway goes along one short side of the park.
10 June
This is the lovely garden on Ruislip Station, we did not have time to go and see it close up, but maybe next time.
In Ruislip High Street someone has made this wonderful Jubilee postbox topper.
We took the train to Uxbridge for some shopping, and then on to the river and park.
Barrier round the tree and notice about bees, in case some kid decided to climb it and get a surprise!
13 June
This is the giant saucer birdbath right by the side of the greenhouse, under the apple trees. We get a good view from inside and can take photos without being seen.
16 June
We went to Nunhead Cemetery which is part cemetery still being used, and the older part is now for wildlife. In the middle it looks like some youngsters have had a day learning how to make hurdles.
Best not to go off the path, some of the headstones are leaning quite alarmingly. Most of them are Victorian and early 20th century.
This one is unusual, I can't decide if it was carved or done more cheaply by being moulded to look like stone. Our old house from very long ago had a garden path just like these black and white tiles on the flat gravestone.
17 June
Today we went to Well Hall Pleasaunce. We had our sandwiches here overlooking the fruit orchard, although there is more lawn and rose beds than fruit trees. Every time I like to check whether this ancient wisteria has demolished the brickwork, but no, it seems to be actually holding it up!
The moat is clear today, although there is blanket weed in the sunny areas. The black fish are easily seen here but disappear in the shady areas.
24 June
A visit to Danson Park. One of my favourite parts is the secret pond that feeds into the lake. It is covered in duckweed, but no ducks around today.
Then we went to the Old English Garden, where we got lots of ideas for putting colourful plants together.
We think this little ladder is a hedgehog escape route out of the round pond.
26 June
Today we are at Alexandra Palace, often called Ally Pally. The tall buildings on the horizon are central London, with the pointed Shard on the right.
We sat by the lake to eat and watched the pedal boats go round - swans, dragons and alarmingly cars!
This tree has consumed the railings since it was a seedling! Outside Ally Pally there was a long strip of the grass verge covered in wildflowers. We are going to get a packet of that for next year and grow the same, only probably in a large pot.
We walked from Ally Pally to Carter's Steam Funfair in Priory Park in Hornsey.
The Octopus is our favourite, as well as all the colourful sign writing.
