2 February

All the crocus are now coming up, and the ones in the sunnier spots are out.

We went to the park. The swans and this big white goose are about the same size, but the goose is much bulkier.

This is an Egyptian goose. We like to stay and watch the weir that goes from the top pond to the lower pond.

7 February

Real settling snow today, it has covered all the foam lily leaves. The birds can still get at the berry bushes, which we are very glad about.

8 February

We have put a webcam in the kitchen window. I took this photo from upstairs, of the starlings coming down for the food. Later on Woodie came down for food, and sometimes there are three of them.

When there are footprints looking for food, it is time to put out some more.

We suddenly noticed these icicles growing outside the upstairs window. They formed when the sun came out and melted the gutter snow, and then they stopped dripping and froze at the end of the afternoon.

9 February

This is a really freezing sight, loads of starlings have a noisy bath. One starling was trying to have a bath in the snow, as there was no room in the bath!

After all that, there were icicles all round the bath. The foam leaves all have loads of snow on them now and they are stuck together in the corner.

10 February

The crocus buds are surviving, I hope they hang on and can flower after the snow.

These pigeon feet were looking for food near my back door, and I know the owner did find some! The fish are all lurking motionless at the bottom of the pond. They don't eat when it is cold, they cannot digest food in low temperatures.

16 February

Three days ago the pigeons were poking around the snow, with me watching on my webcam. Now they can get their proper food of greenery - as well as some extra pellets to get their strength back up after the hungry weeks.

20 February

Crocus are all doing well, now the snow is gone and we have had warm sunny days.

21 February

There are still some cotoneaster berries left, but I don't think they will be there much longer. Sunny days have brought out the insects from hibernation.

Robin had a good long bath and splash about.

24 February

Frogs are here at last!

This male was croaking very loudly to let the others know he owns this pond.

26 February

More frogspawn has appeared. The fish are roaming but they have not noticed it yet. I am keeping them well fed, so they don't need to go into the weedy bit.

Commotion of seagulls in the park, fighting over large bits of bread.

More goslings relaxing, they don't mind people walking past at all.

27 February

My first daffodil.
